When Ocean Currents Become Art

This visualization shows the ocean surface around the world between June 2005 and December 2007. It was produced by NASA / JPL and high resolution model ECCO2. This model attempts to create accurate representations to improve understanding of the currents transport heat and carbon in the ocean.

The ECCO “simulates flows at all depths, but only surface flows are seen in this video. The increase is 20x topographic and bathymetric 40x.
